InsulQuilt is Incorporated
InsulQuilts was incorporated in 1964 by Roy and Don Tonks, two brothers with a vision to introduce what would turn into the “Hollywood Standard” sound blanket over the next six decades.
1965
Pioneering Soundproofing in Hollywood Studios
Sold first blankets to Warner Brothers and Sam Goldwyn Studios. Studios started replacing old muslin fabric backed blankets.
1967
Plenum Barrier introduced into the market
InsulQuilts first used as a Plenum Barrier at Gateway West in Westwood California.
1970
Five major studios purchase InsulQuilt
In the 70’s, Universal Studios, Columbia Pictures, The Culver Studios, Paramount Pictures, and Raleigh Studios began using InsulQuilts.
1989
A New generation
New generation brought into InsulQuilt. Julie Tonks comes into the family business.
1992
Black cloth blanket option introduced
InsulQuilts introduced the Platinum Blanket to the market with the additional black cloth color option which would become the preferred choice amongst studios Nationwide.

First International Sale
Studio Babelberg in Germany purchases InsulQuilts, starting the sweep of InsulQuilts into the European market.

Universal Studio Fire
InsulQuilts used to save valuable and priceless films, TV shows and master recordings. InsulQuilts, with its flame spread of zero was used in the film vault to protect the irreplaceable.

Exterior SonicBlok Blankets and Diamond Scrim Blankets introduced
With noise pollution becoming an issue InsulQuilts expanded into the exterior sound control market.
